19th Annual African Finance Association Conference

Theme: Sustainable Finance Research and Practice in Africa

The African Finance Association in partnership with Africagrowth Institute, Chartered Institute of Development Finance, the Development Finance Centre (University of Cape Town), other African Universities and financial, accounting, banking & research institutions, will be hosting the 19th Annual African Finance Association Conference on the 16-17 May 2023. The conference will bring together academics, doctoral students, practitioner researchers in  financial, accounting, economic, banking and insurance sector and practitioners throughout Africa and beyond to discuss issues impacting on financial, accounting, finance, banking and insurance sectors in Africa. The highlight of the event will be the award of a certificate for the best conference paper. This event can be attended online or in person.

The emphasis of the conference and the PhD Symposium will be on high-quality papers on issues relevant to emerging trends in finance, accounting, economics, banking  and insurance which have special relevance to Africa’s development. The conference will focus (not exclusively) on the following:

The African Finance Association is affiliated to a number of flagship publications including African Finance Journal, Review of Development Finance, Africagrowth Agenda and Development Finance Agenda. The African Finance Journal, is IBSS, Scopus, and Econlit listed and accredited by the South African governments and Department of Education for subsidy purpose. Review of Development Finance is both Scopus, CABS and IBSS listed and Africagrowth Agenda is IBSS listed.

Conference Fee is from $150 for online presenters and $300 for in person attendees and presenters.  For in person presenters, the fee will cover lunches, tea/coffee breaks with snacks, venue hire and admin cost.

  • Virtual Live Presentation: For your virtual live presentation, we will use live virtual conference software to connect all delegates on a single platform to ensure your presentation is available to all participants;
  • Virtual Pre-Recorded Presentation: If you have limited IT resources, we offer you to present your research paper/abstract through Pre-Recorded poster/PowerPoint presentation;
  • Listener includes those delegates who are virtually attending the conference but not presenting;
  • Virtual Complete Registration Pack includes virtual LIVE participation in the conference, potential publication of the contribution after journal submission, conference attendance e-certificate and editing fee.
